MATERIALS

• Omega size 10 crochet cotton (173 yds per ball): 1 ball each #1330 white and #1306 French blue • Size 7/1.65mm steel crochet hook

or size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle • 14 x 18-inch piece fabric • Sewing needle or machine • White sewing thread

GAUGE

8 shells = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

For a longer or shorter Lace piece, increase or decrease the number of Gumdrops. Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-4 at beginning of row counts as first treble crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES Single crochet join (sc join):

Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and draw up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook. Shell: (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in indicated st.

NAPKIN RING/PLACE MAT TRIM

GUMDROP Make 6 [13]. With blue, make a slip ring (see

illustrati­on), ch 1, work 12 hdc in ring, join (see Pattern Notes) in first hdc. Fasten off and pull beg tail to close ring tightly. (12 hdc)
