• DROPS Paris medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn (13/4 oz/82 yds/50g per skein):

6 skeins #28 navy blue (MC) 4 skeins #06 cerise (CC)

• Size 7/4.5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

• 2 strips of corrugated plastic or

plastic canvas

PATTERN NOTES

Tote is worked in joined rounds in 1 piece, beginning at the bottom. Handles are worked separately, then secured in the opening.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-4 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet and chain-1 unless otherwise stated.

Make 2.

With MC, ch 90.

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (beg sk chs count as first dc) and in each ch across, turn. (88 dc)

Rows 2–4: Ch 3, dc in each st across, working last dc in top of beg ch-3, turn.

Fasten off.

Edging row: With WS tog, fold Handle in half lengthwise, working through both thicknesse­s, join CC in first st, sl st in each st across. Fasten off.

Button Lp

With MC, ch 23.

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (beg sk chs count as first dc) and in next 2 chs, ch 4, sk next 4 chs (buttonhole made), dc in each rem ch across, fasten off.

Edging

With RS of Button Lp facing and working in opposite side of foundation chs, insert hook in first ch, holding CC on underside of work, place slip knot on hook, pull through to RS, work surface sl sts (see Special Stitches) in each ch across. Fasten off. Working in tops of sts, rep across other edge.

FINISHING

Insert ends of Handles in ch-2 sps of rnd 28 and secure to inside of Tote.

Fold top edge of Tote, with WS tog, over strips of plastic. Thread yarn needle with length of CC and sew edge to inside of Tote. On WS, sew closed end of Button Lp at marked sp. Center button to front of Tote near top edge and sew in place.
