MATERIALS

• Red Heart It’s A Wrap

Rainbow fine (sport) weight cotton/acrylic yarn (51/4 oz/623 yds/150g per cake):

3 cakes #9351 rainbow

• Size E/4/3.5mm crochet hook

or size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

7 dc = 1 inch; 2 dc rows = 1/2 inch

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-3 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

WRAP

Row 1: Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 2 chs. (first square completed)

Row 2: Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 2 chs, flip first square upward so WS is now facing, sl st in between ch-3 and dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp.

(2 squares)

Row 3: Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 2 chs, flip the previous squares up so WS is facing, *sl st in sp between ch-3 and dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, rep from * across. (3 squares)

For the width of the wrap, rep row 3 until there are 39 squares across row.

Note: For the shaping of the wrap, the inc will only be on the left side of wrap while maintainin­g the width of 39 squares across.

Row 4 (RS): Ch 1, turn, sl st in each of the next 3 dc of previous square, ch 3, 3 dc in same square, continue working rem squares as in previous rows.

Row 5 (WS): Ch 6, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 2 chs (inc edge), flip so that WS of squares from previous row are now facing, continue working squares until end of row.

Rep rows 4 and 5 until there are 118 squares on the left side for the length and width has 39 squares across, ending last rep with row 5. Note: The length of wrap is attained; now start the dec of 1 square per row. Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sl st in each of the next 3 dc on side of square, ch 3, 3 dc between ch-3 and sc, *sl st in sp between ch-3 and dc, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, rep from * across rem squares. Rep row 6 until 1 square rem, do not fasten off.

EDGING

Rnd 1: Sl st in each of next

2 chs of ch-3, *sc in between sps of next square, ch 3, rep from * to corner, ch 5, then rep from * across rem 3 sides, working ch 5 at each corner, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg sc.

Rnd 2: *Sl st in next ch-3 sp,

ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), 3 dc in same ch-3 sp, rep from * around entire outer edge in ch-3 sps and corner ch-5 sps, join in beg sl st. Fasten off.

If desired, block wrap.
