GIRL VERSION ONLY Rnd 2: Ch 1, working from left to right, reverse sc (see Stitch Guide) in each sc around, join in first reverse sc. Fasten off. BOY VERSION ONLY Rnds 2 & 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, working a ch in each corner at top and bottom of each front edge, join in first sc.

Fasten off. SLEEVES

Assembly

Sew sleeve seams. FINISHING

Sew buttons along right front edge (boy) or left front edge (girl).

Sew first button 1/2 inch below neckline and rem buttons approximat­ely 2 inches apart. Use sps between sts on opposite front edge as buttonhole­s. Weave in ends. CAT POCKETS (GIRL VERSION ONLY) Face Circle Make 2.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sc, sc in next sc, sc dec in next 2 sc, turn, leaving rem sts unworked. (3 sc) Row 5: Ch 1, sc dec in 3 sc at top of ear, work 3 sc evenly along the side of ear (in row edges), sl st in next sc on last rnd of face circle. Fasten off, leaving a 10-inch-long tail for sewing the pocket to cardi.

Embroider

Using scrap yarn, embroider eyes, nose and whiskers on the face circle (see picture for colors and placements). For the eyes, use French knots (see illustrati­on) and use straight stitches

(see illustrati­on) for the whiskers and nose. FINISHING

Sew pockets to each front piece, sewing through both fabrics along the bottom edge of face circle from ear to ear.

Weave in ends.
