• Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

Ribbing: 8 hdc = 11/2 inches; 10 rows = 2 inches

Body: 15 dc = 4 inches; 7 rows = 4 inches

Take time to check gauge.

PATTERN NOTES

The yarn was hand-dyed for this project. Please see tutorial, Colorful Cotton: How to Dye Your Own Yarn on page 14. Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-2 at beginning of ribbing rows counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join):

Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

TEE FRONT & BACK

Ribbing

Row 1: Ch 8 [9, 9, 10, 10, 11], hdc in 3rd ch from hook (2 sk chs count as first hdc) and in each

ch across, turn. (7 [8, 8, 9, 9, 10] hdc) Row 2: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), fphdc (see Stitch Guide) in each

st across, turn. (7 [8, 8, 9, 9, 10] fphdc)

Rep row 2 until ribbing measures 18 [20, 22, 24, 26, 28] inches. Finish off.

Body

Row 1: Sc join (see Special Stitch) in last st of ribbing, working in ends of ribbing rows, sc 83 [90, 104, 111, 125, 132] evenly across, turn. (84 [91, 105, 112, 126, 133] sc) Row 2: Ch 4, dc in first st, ch 2, sk 5 sts, 4 dc in next st, *ch 2, dc in next st, ch 2, sk 5 sts, 4 dc in next st; rep from * across, turn. (60 [65, 75, 80, 90, 95] dc)

Row 3: Ch 4, dc in first st, ch 2, sk next ch-2 sp, *(4 dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, sk next ch-2 sp; rep from * across, 4 dc in turning ch-4 sp, turn. (60 [65, 75, 80, 90, 95] dc)

Rep row 3 until piece measures approximat­ely 22 [221/4, 221/2, 223/4, 23, 23] inches. Finish off at end of last row.

ASSEMBLY

Blocking: For best results wet lightly and lay flat to dry, shaping evenly. Allow to dry completely before sewing.

Shoulders: Placing Front and Back tog, sew each shoulder seam from edge of shoulder in toward neckline 6 [7, 71/2, 81/4, 9, 93/4] inches. Finish off.

Sides: Working from the bottom hem up, sew 15 [143/4, 141/2, 141/4, 14, 131/2] inches, leaving 7 [71/2, 8, 81/2, 9, 91/2] inches unsewn for armhole.

Sizing note: For larger armhole, reduce the number of inches you sew up from the hem. For smaller armhole, inc the number of inches you sew up from the hem.
