MATERIALS

• Cascade Yarns Noble

Cotton medium (worsted) weight wool yarn (31/2 oz/

220 yds/100g per skein): 4 skeins #24 celadon

1 skein #52 bright rose, #49 baby pink, #55 cornflower blue, #30 yellow, #58 navy and #25 watercress

• Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook

or size needed to obtain gauge • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook • Tapestry needle

• 12-inch x 22-inch pillow form

GAUGE

With size F hook: 4 wt sts = 2 inches; 8 wt st rows = 2 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Wattle stitch (wt st): (Sc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st. Single crochet join (sc join):

Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Surface slip stitch (surface sl st): Insert hook in indicated sp, yo, pull lp to RS and through lp on hook.

PILLOW FRONT PANEL

With size F hook and celadon, ch 66.

Row 1: Working in back bar

of ch (see illustrati­on), sc in 2nd ch and in each ch across, turn. (65 sc)

Back Bar of Chain

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, [ wt

st (see Special Stitches) in next st, sk next 2 sts] across to last sc, sc in last st, turn. (2 sc, 21 wt sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, wt st in ch-1 sp of each wt st across, sc in last st, turn.

Rep row 3 until piece measures 21 inches long. Fasten off.

BACK PANEL

With size H hook and 2 strands of celadon held tog, ch 38.

Row 1: Working in back bar of ch, dc in 3rd ch from hook (beg sk chs do not count as a st) and in each ch across, turn. (36 dc)

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in each dc across, turn.

Rep row 2 until piece measures same length as Front Panel. Fasten off.

Flower

Make 15 bright rose/baby pink and 9 cornflower blue/ yellow.

Rnd 1: With size F hook and navy, make a slip ring (see illustrati­on), ch 3 (counts as first

dc), 11 dc in ring, join (see Pattern Notes) in top of beg ch-3.

Fasten off. (12 dc) Rnd 2: Working in back lps only (see Stitch Guide), sc join (see Special Stitches) bright rose in any st, sc in same st, 2 sc in each st around, join in first sc. (24 sc) Rnd 3: {Ch 3 (does not count

as first dc), [2 tr in next st] twice, ch 3, sl st in each of next 2 sts} around, working last sl st in base of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (6 large petals)

Rnd 4: Working in unworked front lps of rnd 1, join baby pink in front lp of rnd 1 directly below center of any large petal, [ch 2, 3 dc in next st, ch 2, sl st in next st] 3 times, sl st in next st, rep between [ ] twice. Fasten off. (5 small petals)

With cornflower blue and yellow, rep rnds 1–4.

Leaf Make 5.

With size F hook and watercress, ch 16.

Working in back lp of chs (see

illustrati­on), sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch, sc in each of next 2 chs, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, tr in each of next 4 chs, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in last ch, ch 1, rotate Leaf to work in opposite side of ch, working in back lps only, sl st in next ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in each of next 4 chs, 2 tr in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in each of next 2 chs, sl st in each of last 2 chs. Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY & FINISHING

Refer to photo as a guide for placement of all pieces.

Flowers

Pin all Flowers on Front Panel. With matching yarn, sew Flowers to Panel, working through rnd 2 and tips of each large petal.

Stems

Working from bottom edge, insert hook in base of any st, with watercress held under work, place slip knot on hook, draw through to RS, insert hook in any st above, yo and draw through lp on hook (first surface

sl st made), work surface sl sts

(see Special Stitches) evenly and upward, ending under Flower, fasten off. Rep until all Flowers have Stems. Work in Stems for each Leaf to desired length.

Leaves

Place Leaves on Stems and with matching yarn, sew through center “vein” to Panel.

Joining Border

Rnd 1: With size F hook, WS of Panels held tog, Front Panel facing and working through both thicknesse­s, sc join celadon in any st, sc evenly around, inserting pillow form as work progresses, change color (see Stitch Guide) to watercress in last st, join in first sc. Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each st around, working (dc, ch 1, dc) in each corner, join in top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. CW
