• Premier Yarns Chamonix fine (sport) weight acrylic/polyamide/ mohair yarn (3 oz/380 yds/85g per ball):

6 balls #14 summer sky • Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

• Stitch markers

GAUGE

[Ch 1, dc] 8 times = 4 inches; 7 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-5 at beginning of row counts as chain-5 space. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCH

Single crochet join (sc join):

Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.

AFGHAN

Ch 206. Row 1 (WS): Dc in 6th ch from hook (beg 5 sk chs count as ch-5

sp), *ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch, rep from * across, turn. (101 dc, 100 ch-1 sps, 1 ch-5 sp) Row 2: Ch 5 (see Pattern Notes), dc in first dc, *ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, rep from * across, turn. Rows 3–105: Rep row 2. Do not fasten off at end of last row.

Fringe

Ch 13, dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 7, sl st in next ch-1 sp, sl st in next 4 sts, *ch 9, dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in next ch-1 sp, sl st in next 4 sts, ch 15, dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 9, sl st in next ch-1 sp, sl st in next 4 sts, ch 13, dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 7, sl st in next ch-1 sp, sl st in next 4 sts, rep from * 7 times, ch 9, dc in 6th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in last st. Fasten off. (34 fringes)

Fringe Flower

Make 34. Rnd 1 (RS): With RS facing, sc join (see Special Stitch) yarn in dc of any fringe, [ch 3, sc in ch-5 sp] 3 times, ch 3, join (see Pattern Notes) in first st. (4 sc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 2: [(Sl st, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, dc, ch 2) in next ch-3 sp] 4 times, join in first st. Fasten off.

With WS of row 1 facing and working in opposite side of foundation ch, join yarn in first ch, rep Fringe and Fringe Flowers.

FINISHING

Map out placement for 45 Surface Flowers, marking beg ch-1 sp for each with marker.

Surface Flower

Make 45.

Rnd 1: With RS of Afghan facing, sc join yarn in marked ch, ch 3, fpsc (see Stitch Guide) around adjacent dc, ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, fpsc around next adjacent dc, ch 3, join in first sc.

Rnd 2: Work same as rnd 2 of Fringe Flower. Fasten off. CW
