• Berroco Folio light (DK) weight alpaca/rayon yarn (13/4 oz/219 yds/50g per ball):

4 balls #4517 tropical breeze • Size J/10/6mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Locking stitch markers: 3 • Tapestry needle

GAUGE

15 sts = 4 inches; 11 rows = 4 inches Take time to check gauge.

PATTERN NOTES

The pattern is worked top to bottom in rows.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Mark middle stitch in each 3-single crochet corner and move markers up with each row as needed.

Chain-6 at beginning of row counts as first double treble crochet and chain-1 unless otherwise stated.

SHAWL

Row 1: Make a slip ring (see illustrati­on), ch 6 (see Pattern Notes), [(dtr, ch 1) into ring] 9 times, dtr into ring, pull end to close ring, turn. (11 dtr, 10 ch-1 sps)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first dtr, sc in each ch sp and dtr across to last ch sp, sc in last ch sp, sc in 5th ch of beg ch-6, turn. (21 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc, [3 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc]

2 times, 3 sc in next sc, sc in last 4 sc, place markers (see Pattern Notes), turn. (18 sc, 3 3-sc corners) Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first sc, *sc in each sc to next marked sc in corner, 3 sc in marked sc; rep from * 2 more times, sc in each rem sc, turn.
