FINISHED MEASUREMEN­TS

Each pennant: 7 inches wide, 71/4 inches long Joined pennants: 60 inches long

MATERIALS

• Medium (worsted weight) yarn:

For pennants: 26 yds each light green, pink, light blue, yellow and lavender; for motifs: 49 yds assorted scrap colors

• Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

• Small amount light blue

embroidery floss

• 3 (7/8"-long) clear acrylic teardrop

beads

• 2 (11/8"-diameter) plastic rings • 62" length ¼"-wide pink rickrack

GAUGE

13 dc = 4 inches; 71/2 dc rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Approximat­e yardage requiremen­ts for each motif:

Easter egg: 4 yds each yellow and magenta, 1 yd purple; fourleaf clover: 5 yds green, 3 yds light green; rain cloud: 12 yds white; flower: 4 yds lavender, 2 yds purple, 1 yd yellow, 6 yds green; heart: 4 yds lavender, 3 yds magenta.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated. Chain-1 at beginning of row does not count as stitch unless otherwise stated.

Join with slip stitch unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Beginning increase (beg inc): (Ch 3, dc) in first st of row.

End increase (end inc): 2 dc in indicated st. Single crochet join (sc join):

Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Single crochet decrease (sc dec): (insert hook, yo, draw lp through) in each of next 2 sts, yo, draw through all lps on hook.

Slip ring: Leaving 4-inch end, lap yarn over 4-inch end forming lp (see illustrati­on), insert hook through lp from front to back, yo, pull through lp to form ring, yo, pull through lp on hook.

PENNANT

Make yellow, 1 light each blue, lavender, light green, pink.

Row 1: Ch 4, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook (sk chs count as first dc), turn. (3 dc) Row 2 (RS): Beg inc (see Special Stitches), dc in next st, end inc (see Special Stitches) in turning ch, turn. (5 dc)

Row 3: Beg inc, dc across to last st, end inc in turning ch, turn. (7 dc) Rows 4–11: Rep row 3, increasing 2 sts each row. ( 23 dc at end of row 11)

Row 12: Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each st across, turn. Row 13: Ch 3, dc in next dc,

[ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc] across, dc in turning ch, turn. (13 dc, 10 ch sps)

Row 14: Ch 1 (see Pattern Notes), sc in each st and sp across, fasten off. (23 sc)

MOTIFS Easter Egg

Row 4 dc in 1 4th (RS): ch With from yellow, hook (sk ch chs 4, count as first dc), turn. (5 dc) Row 2: Ch 1 (counts as first sc throughout this motif pattern), sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st, change color

(see Stitch Guide) to magenta, fasten off yellow, turn. (7 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, change color to purple, fasten off magenta, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, change color to magenta, fasten off purple, turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, fasten off. Row 6 (RS): Sc join (see Special Stitches) yellow in beg ch of row 5 on RS, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, sc dec (see Special Stitches), sc in next st, sc dec, sc in turning ch, turn. (5 sc)

Row 8: Ch 3, dc next 4 sts tog, ch 1, fasten off.

Border rnd: With magenta, sc join in base of row 1, 2 sc in same st, rotate work, sc evenly across side, (sc, ch 2, sc) in top center st, sc evenly across side, join to beg sc, fasten off.

Four-Leaf Clover

Rnd 1 (RS): With green, make a slip ring (see Special Stitches), [sl st, ch 3, 3 tr, ch 3] in ring 4 times, join to beg sl st, draw ring closed, ch 6, fasten off. (12 tr, 8 ch-3, 4 sl sts)

Rnd 2 (RS): With bright green, sl st join in first sl st of rnd 1, [ch 2, 2 sc in next tr, sc in next tr, 2 sc in next tr, ch 2, sl st in next sl st] 3 times, ch 2, 2 sc in next tr, sc in next tr, 2 sc in next tr, ch 2, join in first sl st of rnd working in front of stem, fasten off. (20 sc, 8 ch-2, 4 sl sts)

Cloud

Rnd 1 (RS): With white, ch 11, 2 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (sk chs

count as first hdc), 3 hdc in each st across, 6 hdc in last st, rotate to work in base of foundation ch, 3 hdc in each st across, 3 hdc in last st, join to top of beg ch-2. (54 hdc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 1, [sc in next st, ch 1] around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (54 sc, 54 ch sps)

Flower

Rnd 1: With yellow, make a slip ring, 5 sc in ring, join to beg sc, draw ring closed, fasten off.

Rnd 2: With lavender, sc join in any sc of round 1, (hdc, dc, hdc, sc, ch 1) in same st, (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, ch 1) in each st around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (10 sc, 10 hdc, 5 dc, 5 ch sps) Rnd 3: With purple, sl st in any ch sp, [sc in next hdc, 2 hdc in dc, sc in hdc, sl st in ch-1 sp]

4 times, sc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next dc, sc in hdc, join to beg sl st, fasten off. (10 sc, 10 hdc, 5 sl sts)

Leaf Make 2.

Rnd 1: With green, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *hdc in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st,** (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in last st, rotate to work in base of foundation chain, rep from * to **, sc in last st, ch 1, join to beg sc, fasten off. (6 sc, 4 hdc, 2 dc)

Heart

Rnd 1: With magenta, make a slip ring, (sl st, ch 2, 3 tr, 4 dc, tr, 4 dc, 3 tr, ch 2) in ring, join to beg sl st, draw ring closed, fasten off.

Rnd 2: With lavender, sl st in sl st join of rnd 1, ch 2, 2 hdc in next tr, 3 dc in next tr, hdc in next 5 sts, (hdc, ch 2, hdc) in next st, hdc in next 5 sts, 3 dc in

tr, 2 hdc in tr, ch 2, join to beg sl st of rnd, fasten off. (16 hdc, 6 dc, 3 ch-2 sps)

FINISHING

Weave in loose ends. Thread yarn needle with matching yarn and sew motifs to pennants, referring to photo for placement. For cloud motif, sew along center seam of cloud so edges ripple freely. With blue embroidery floss, sew beads below cloud motif so they hang freely.

Thread the rickrack through the mesh edge at the top of each pennant. Sew a plastic ring to each end of the rickrack for hanging.
