4 balls #1133-01 party multi • Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or

size needed to obtain gauge • Tapestry needle

• Blocking tools

GAUGE

10 dc = 2 inches; 6 rows of dc = 2 inches

Take time to check gauge.

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-4 at beginning of row counts as first treble crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-4 and double crochet in first stitch at beginning of row counts as first V-stitch unless otherwise stated.

After the first 3 rows, increasing occurs on rows 4 and 10 as well as repeats of each. On row 4 and all repeats of row 4, the increase occurs at the beginning of the row. On row 10 and all repeats of row 10, the increase occurs at the end of the row.

SPECIAL STITCHES

V-stitch (V-st): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st or ch sp.

Flower (flwr): (Sc, ch 6, sc, ch 6, sc, ch 6, sc) in ch-1 sp of V-st.

Frill: [Ch 6, working under 2 lps, sl st in 6th ch from hook] twice, ch 5, working under 2 lps, sl st in 5th ch from hook.

Bump: Ch 3, working under 2 lps, dc in 3rd ch from hook.

SHAWLETTE BODY

Row 1: Ch 10, V-st (see Special Stitches) in 7th ch from hook

(last 4 sk chs count as dc and ch 1), ch 1, sk 2 chs, dc in last ch, turn. (1 V-st, 2 dc, 2 ch-1 sps)

A pretty lacy floral design begins at one point of this asymmetric­al shawl and continues to grow with each 6-row repeat.

Rows 11–112: [Work the following sequence of rows: 5, 9, 4, 5, 9, 10] 17 times. (77 V-sts)

Row 113: Rep row 5. (39 sc, 76 ch-1 sps, 38 flwr)

EDGING

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Wet-block shawlette to final measuremen­ts, making sure to pull out and pin all chain loops of edging. Let dry completely before removing pins.
