Compost site reopens

The Cupertino Compost Site reopened March 25. Cupertino residents can pick-up free bulk compost every Friday and Saturday at 12100 Stevens Canyon Road across from the Stevens Creek Reservoir dam parking lot, 8 a.m.-noon through Oct. 29. The compost site will close during rainy weather or muddy conditions to comply with state stormwater requiremen­ts. Call 408-7771320 to check status.

Pedaling influence

Cupertino residents are encouraged to apply for the Bicycle Pedestrian Commission. This seat is for a partial term ending on January 30, 2025. The applicatio­n deadline is April 15, at 4:30 p.m. City council will conduct interviews beginning at 5:30 p.m. on April 26.

Fire museum tour

Bay Area Older Adults is hosting a tour of the Santa Clara Fire Museum today. On this 90-minute private tour, curators will explain the history of the building and the city of Santa Clara starting from the early 1800s, as well as the different modes of transporta­tion used over time, from the hose cart pulled by firemen and its bucket brigade to gas-powered fire engines. Artifacts include handwritte­n log books, photos, helmets, an old alarm system, pull boxes and a 911 memorial.
