BROKEN BOW - In Custer County District Court July 16, Brent Safranek, 44, of Merna plead Not Guilty to five counts: Flight to avoid arrest, a class IV felony; Driving without ignition interlock w/.02, a class IV felony; Driving while under the influence of alcohol, a class W misdemeanor; Willful reckless driving 1st offense, a class III misdemeanor; and Speeding 82 in a 65 mph zone, an infraction. The offenses allegedly happened Jan. 6, 2020. A jury trial is scheduled for Oct. 26. Bond is set at $1,000 personal recognizance.
Arraignment of Kindra Potter, AKA Kindra Hause, 28, of Ansley was continued to Aug. 6. Potter faces more than ten charges of forgery, theft by deception and making false statement/destroying records. According to court records, a motion was filed to continue the arraignment for another 90 days, however District Court Judge Karin Noakes denied that motion. Arraignment will be heard Aug. 6 at 9:30 a.m.
Sentencing was set for Sept. 10 for Otto
Schneidereit, 45, of Anselmo, Schneidereit entered a plea of No Contest to two counts - DUI-.08 breath-1st offense, a class W misdemeanor, and Failure to stop and render aid/no serious injury, a class 3A felony.
Ivan Morales, 29, of Thorton, Colo., entered a plea of Guilty to one count, Possession of a controlled substance-ch 1/2/3, a class 2A felony. Two other counts were dismissed. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 10.
Brice Carpenter, 25, of Anselmo was sentenced to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services after the court found him guilty of four counts in two cases: Abuse of a vulnerable adult, a class 3A felony; Theft-rev stolen property $1,500-$4,999, a class 4 felony; Theft-unlawful taking $1,500-$4,999, a class 4 felony; and Terroristic threats, a class #A felony. He received two 12 months sentences and two 18 months sentences to be served concurrently, and 12 month post-release supervision. He received credit for 94 days served and was ordered to pay restitution of $48 to Trotter’s and $27 to Custer’s Last Stop and costs.
