Custer County has 75% voter turnout

CUSTER COUNTY - In Custer County, one in four registered voters turned out, either voting in person, by early ballot or by provisiona­l ballot for this year’s election. Custer County recorded a 75.51 percent voter turnout.

For this election, 6,073 of 8,043 registered voters in Custer County voted.

On the presidenti­al ticket, Custer County cast 5,090 votes for Trump/ Pence and 786 for Biden/ Harris.

Proposed Amendment No. 1 passed in Nebraska, 594,083 (68.17 percent) to 277,362 (31.83 percent). Votes in Custer County were 2,652 for, 2,656 against.

Proposed Amendment No. 2 extending the maximum time for repayment of tax increment financing from 15 to 20 years if more than one half of the property is designated as extremely blighted passed at the State level 512,468 (61.10 percent) to 326,309 (38.90 percent). Custer County voted 2,675 for, 5,451 against.

Initiative Measure 428, set the maximum annual percent rate of 36 percent for payday lenders. Nebraska voted 713,793 (82.83 percent) for and 147,940 (17.17 percent) against. Custer County voted 3,928 for and 1,342 against.

Iniative Measures 429, 430 and 431 were passed by Nebraska voters 579,661 (64.97 percent) for, 312,471 (35.03 percent) against; 582,128 (64.94 percent) for, 314,333 (35.06 percent) against; and 611,855 (68.66 percent) for, 279,255 (31.34 percent) against respective­ly. Custer County votes were #429 - 2,609 for, 3000 against; #430 - 2,649 for, 2,985 against: and #431 - 2,837 for, 2,769 against.

The passing of #429, #430 and #421 amends the Nebraska Constituti­on to allow for games of chance to be conducted by licensees within licensed racetracks enclosures in Nebraska.
