County Supervisor­s meeting, County offices open

BROKEN BOW - With the increase of COVID cases and six positive cases amoung courthoue employyes, the Custer County Board of Supervisor­s met both in person and via Zoom Tuesday, Nov. 10.

COVID-19 sick pay and guidelines were discussed. The basic CARES Act guidelines will be followed; county employees can qualify for the 14 days per the government guidelines. If the employee will need additional time, sick leave will take effect.

The Supervisor­s went into closed session to discuss COVID guidelines and to protect the reputation of an individual, no action was taken in closed session.

A public hearing on Relocation of Rd. #857 was postponed to the next regular meeting, Nov. 24, due to inclement weather and the land owner unable to attend the meeting in person or via Zoom.

The Treasurers office was to remain closed until Nov. 16; the Register of Deeds office was closed for the day Nov. 10. The Recycling Center also has positive cases and was always closed.

All supervisor­s were present in person or via Zoom: Bobby Myers, Dist. #1; Tammy Kleeb, Dist. #2; Barry Fox, Dist. #3; Dwain Bryner, Dist. #4; Don Olson, Dist. #5; Matthew Eggleston, Dist. #6; and Doug Stunkel, Dist. #7.

Nov. 17 Update

Constance Gracey, Custer County Clerk, stated Nov. 17, “We are up and running!”

The Treasurer’s office opened Nov. 16 and the Deeds office was closed just the one day.

Kelly Flynn also reported the Recycling Center was reopened after being closed for 14 days. “Everything is running as normal as we can. We are still pretty backed up, but the trailers are back out at Grocery Kart and across the street from Evans Feed,” Flynn said.

Flynn went on to say, with his health challenges, he just knew if he caught COVID, he would be very sick. He did contract the virus.

“It felt like a bad case of the flu,” Flynn said. “I took the extra Vitamin C and D and Zinc like they recommende­d, along prescripti­on by my doctor and nutritiona­ls recommende­d by nutritioni­st.”
