Mullen Girls Golf

-

Golf has always been a sport very special to the people of Mullen, Nebraska, and to Mullen High School. Unfortunately, over the last several years girls golf has not had a team due to lack of interest. That all changed this year when Corynn Corbin decided to go out and the Broncos were able to field a team once again.

This was also Ron Taylor’s first season coaching and he admitted this season was a learning curve. Even through the struggles, she never gave up and always continued to learn during practice and improved.

“Corynn’s determination was her greatest strength,” Taylor said. “She was always trying to improve through practice and teaching video’s and was always open to my instruction and would implement what I told her.”

This year also gave Taylor an opportunity to see a completely different side of Corynn as an athlete rather than just a student in the classroom.

“Having her in my classes and then on the golf course was actually like seeing two different girls,” Taylor said. “Her inclass persona and golf course persona were completely different.”

The work Corynn put in throughout the year seemed to pay off as she shot her two best rounds of the year in her final two meets of the season. There is no doubt she will continue to keep improving next season, but the next step for the Bronco girl’s golf program is trying to put a team together.

“I hoping to get a couple more girls out next year so Corynn will have some company during practice and travel besides just me,” Taylor said.
