MULLEN - On Friday, Dec. 11 amongst family, friends, and coaches, Kylie Licking of Mullen signed on to play volleyball next season at North Platte Community College. She will be the second person in her family to play volleyball for the Knights. Her cousin Alysen Daniels is currently a sophomore on the team.

“North Platte CC drew my attention when I was watching my cousin play there last year!,” Kylie Licking said. “She would tell me all these things about how fun and great the volleyball program is and how great the team’s bond is. North Platte also has a good campus and it is very home-like.”

This season Licking was one of the vocal and statistical leaders for a Bronco squad who made it back to the D2 State Volleyball Tournament.

She was second on the team this season with 133 kills and had a 0.146 hitting percentage. Licking also finished the season as the leader in serving aces with 52 and digs with 378.

A big reason Licking believes she has gotten to where she is at, is because of her parents who have always tried to help her in her endeavors. They have seen the talent she has and have always pushed her to maximize it.

“My parents have always been very supportive in everything I do,” Licking said. “They always come to my games and even my club volleyball tournaments. They always push me to do better because they know my potential.”

She also stated that her high school coaches and her club volleyball coaches have been huge influences on her getting this far. They were continually presenting her new challenges in an effort to make her a more well-rounded player.

“My high school coaches and my club coaches have always pushed me to the next level,” Licking said. “They give me challenges, because they know I will push myself to achieve them. They are very supportive in my decision to play at the next level.”

Besides just getting the opportunity to continue playing sports, Licking believes college volleyball will help her in other aspects of her life.

“It feels great to know that I will be able to continue my volleyball career,” Licking said. “I feel like taking it to the next level will help me in many different ways in my future. I think it will develop me into a better person and push my strengths to the next level.”

While at North Platte Community College, Licking plans to keep pushing herself both on the court and in the classroom as she continues to make her dreams a reality. As of now, she isn’t fully decided on a major but is looking to go towards the Ag Business field.
