Callaway celebrates new business

- BY DONNIS HUEFTLEBULLOCK General Manager

CALLAWAY - The Callaway Chamber celebrated the opening of Henry’s (formally Hanger 22) Friday, March 12, with a ribbon cutting.

Owners Henry and Brooke Moore are new residents to Callaway, but not new to Callaway.

Brooke (Joeckel) grew up in Callaway, attending Callaway Public School third grade through graduation.

Coming back to often visit family when they lived in other places, the couple is no stranger to the area. It was last August when they took a serious interest in purchasing Hanger 22.

“It has always been Henry’s dream to own his own business,” Brooke said.

The couple has lived in Texas, Colorado and most recently in Nashville, Tenn., mainly for Brooke’s job.

“Henry has been so good following me with my job, I wanted to let him have his dream,” Brooke said. She is the new Director of Nursing at the Callaway Good Life Center.

“It feels like coming home,” she said. “It has been great getting reacquainted with the community and we want to be a part of the community and give back.”

Henry’s has just completed Phase I, which was re-branding. When you walk into the business you will notice a fresh, bright look with beach items and images. Phase II will be installing a commercial grade kitchen.

For now, they plan to start Taco Tuesday, with Henry’s famous taquito and serving his award-winning guacamole. Henry has won first place twice in a guacamole contest in Austin. He has also placed second with his special salsa recipe.

Phase III will be down the road when they open up the building to the east and add a coffee bar.

For now, Callaway continues to grow, one business at a time.
