Library hosts kids nutrition program, more in-person events to follow

-

BROKEN BOW - Tuesday, March 16, the Broken Bow Public Library hosted nutritional speaker Sonya Atkins as one of their first in-person programs! Kids Nutrition Tips for Life was attended by several people at the library and by families and the Super Kid’s Club on Facebook Live.

For National Nutrition Month, Atkins presented the kids with tips and tricks about how they can choose their fruits and veggies as well as several fun and easy ways to cut and serve them! They found stars in the middle of apples, some dinosaur food (which may have been kale) and tried lots of stuff they hadn’t tried before! She encouraged the kids to eat food of many different colors (natural colors, not fruit loops) as an easy way to provide a wide spectrum of nutrients.

Parents were also given tips on how to introduce new foods, letting kids be a part of their food selection/preparation, having a meal in a fun location, and replacing processed foods with whole food snacks like nuts, dried fruits, kale chips, etc.

If you missed this program, the video is still available on the Broken Bow Public Library’s Facebook page!

The Library is excited to be opening up many more in person programs! On March 29, the library will host a Zoom meeting with the Nebraska Forest Service at 7 p.m. Participants are welcome to join us at the library for coffee and cookies or to sign up to meet with us over Zoom.

On Thursdays at 10 a.m., you can join us for stories, songs and a craft at Lapsit. On Mondays and Wednesdays, we have Chair Yoga at 2 p.m. We ask you to sign up for both programs and they are both still available on Facebook Live.
