Kelly ‘KC’ Borders

-

Kelly Clayton Borders, “KC” as he was called, was born on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1964 at Osmond, Neb. to Bill and Ruth Borders of Sutton, formerly of Broken Bow. He was the youngest of six kids.

From the time he could walk, he was running! KC adored his mom. He would kiss his hand and then touch her with his hand as he ran by onto another adventure.

KC had many natural talents and could repair just about anything, starting when he was very young. He didn’t talk a lot, but was usually planning a practical joke on someone.

He loved starting his own traditions, especially at Easter and all the kids could expect something very unusual in their eggs or baskets. He had a nickname for everyone and was very good at making up songs or poems to make someone laugh.

KC had a universal license for heating and air and loved it when he could help people or save them some money. He loved animals, especially his dogs.

Although he had no kids of his own, he had a special way with children and his nieces and nephews, all kids, adored him.

He fought a disease for a lot of his life but it was cancer that defeated him. He had a strong belief in God and guardian angels and knew there was a better place ahead.

He passed away Feb. 8, 2021.

Thanks to hospice and a much loved niece, Mindy and husband Shane, he was able to pass at their home surrounded by his family and dog Hailey.

KC was preceded in death by his parents; oldest brother Randy; nephews Blake and Cory; and great niece Brynlee.

He is survived by sisters DeeDee (Buzz) Downing of Broken Bow and Laurie (Barry) Sheridan of Sutton; brothers Steve (Gina) of Sutton and Scott (Carol) of Scottsbluff; and his nieces, nephews and their children.

He also had some special friends in his life - his dog Hailey, best friend Doug Lanniger, Judy Holeman, “Crash,” and many others.

He loved the people he worked with, too, loved helping them and playing jokes on them.

KC will be missed.
