Wolves build for future success

-

Despite improving from a season ago, the Twin Loup boys basketball team ended the year with a record of 2-17. The Wolves found ways to be competitive during parts of most of their games, but never really figured out how to put together a complete game.

Twin Loup began the season with a nine-game losing streak, which could have completed derailed the season right there. Instead, the Wolves continued to fight and were competitive against Palmer and then found a way to earn a convincing victory over Chambers-Wheeler Central at home.

After another tough stretch of games, the Wolves played well in the MNAC Tournament. They lost both their games to Brady and Hyannis, but were very competitive and had chances to win in both those contests.

After suffering another loss vs Anselmo-Merna, Twin Loup was able to find the win column for the second time in the year vs Elba. The Bluejays were no match for the Wolves as they found a way to pull out a 25 point victory.

The team had four seniors in Damion Hill, Weston Reineke, Quade Young, and Daniel Folkers. Young and Folkers were key post players on this year’s team and it will be an area the team will have to work on heading into next year.

The good news is Twin Loup returns some good underclassman guards. These include Rusty Oxford, Quincy Ryker, Cael Richardson, and Tory Dockweiler. At different points in the season, each of these players stepped up and took a significant role.

Congratulations Twin Loup on a hard-fought 2020-2021 campaign. It will be exciting to see what next season has in store for this group of athletes.
