Arcadia/Loup City Tournament

ARCADIA/LOUP CITY - The South Loup Lady Cats made their way to Arcadia/Loup City to challenge three teams Saturday, Oct. 9. They first played the Arcadia/ Loup City Rebels and won25-13 and 25-15.

Abby Stallbaume­r had a total of 5 hitting kills. Reagan Cool was right behind with 4. Overall, the team managed 15 hitting kills during these two short sets. Mya Weverka, as the teams lead setter, ended the game with 14 assists.

The Lady Cats serve receives was also on point with a total of 22 perfect serve receives. Ava Pandorf contribute­d 10 of those.

“It was great to be able to start the first game of the tournament with a win. We had a great game and worked really well together. It was a good boost of confidence for the rest of the day,” Ava Pandorf said.

The next game the Lady Bobcats had was against the Boyd County Spartans. Unfortunat­ely, the Bobcats lost both sets. Unlike the Arcadia/Loup City game, this one took longer and the scores were closer, 29-27 and 2520. It was a tough loss but the team was determined not to let this game get in the way of winning their last game of the tournament.

Bryn Schwarz was the fantastic hitter during this game and was leading the team with a total of 7 hitting kills. Abby Stallbaume­r and Reagan Cool both had 4 kills. The team had an high amount

of successful blocks, ending the game with 6. Ava Pandorf and Mya Weverka were the two top players for the most digs. Ava Pandorf, however, was leading with 21 successful digs and Mya Weverka

was close behind her with 11 digs as well.

“Even though we lost it was a good time on the court. Our communicat­ion was just a little off but the team had a great

day,” Bryn Schwarz said.

For the final game, the Lady Bobcats challenged the Fullerton Warriors. The Lady Cats ended their Saturday on a high note and won both sets against the Warriors.

For Sandhills/Thedford, Brea Branic had 8 kills and 1 ace along with Cylee Jameson who achieved 6 kills and 3 ace serves.
