ARNOLD - Tuesday, Oct. 5, South Loup hosted the MNAC cross country meet. The three highest placing girls’ teams were South Loup with first place, Brady second place, and third place was awarded to Sandhills Valley.

This is the third year in a row that South Loup Bobcats won the MNAC XC meet.

“It was a very successful meet for us. We had six that medaled and several that finished very well. It was a great day for running and on a course that we knew well. We had several that had outstanding performances throughout the day, achieving either personal bests for this season or personal bests for their career,” said South Loup head Coach Recoy.

The highest placing SLB girls runner was Ella Cool with a 22:53 time, her personal best for this season, putting her in third place.

“I felt I did pretty good, I ran a new personal best. It was nice having it at Arnold because it was familiar. The meet was hot and hard because it was a small meet, so you had to run by yourself.

The runner to take first place in the girls’ race was Peyton Paxton from Mullen with a 21:08 time.

Mullen had two girl medalists and one boy medalist. Mullen has only four runners. Two boys and two girls, all placed in the top ten.

The three highest placing boys teams are Sandhills Valley with first place, South Loup taking home second place, and Twin Loup placing in third.

The MNAC XC meet also had a South Loup record broken by Logan Recoy whose new personal best is 18:49 time.

“I am extremely happy with how I ran on Tuesday. Now, we are all looking towards districts and after that state,” Recoy said.

Twin Loup boys placed third as a team, their fastest runner was sophomore Jackson Ottun with a 22:51 team putting him in tenth.

Following Ottun was junior Wyatt Olson with a 23:11.

“It was a beautiful day, and I thought all my kids ran really well! It’s always a good day when we bring home hardware. Congrats to both my junior high and high school boys’ teams for receiving third place. Also, big shoutout to Everett Funk for being the JH boys’ runner-up at MNAC!” head Coach Hannah Meeks said.
