Local fire department was the starting point
BROKEN BOW - “I want to thank the Broken Bow Fire Department. That’s how I got started.”
That was an important part of the message that Bob Harrold wanted to convey when the Chief reached out to follow up on the article on his business, Prescription Pyro, LLC (below).
The article by the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) came about because he used the NBDC to get information on how to secure government contracts.
“Last March I reached out to them,” Harrold said. “I received a contract in June to get trucks in a national contract to fight fire.” He had contacted the NBDC through their partnership in Kearney.
There are nine members on Harrold’s crew. Most of them are based in the southwest part of the United States. “Our jurisdiction is the U.S.,” Harrold said. “We travel a lot.”
Harrold lives in Broken Bow during the winter, however, for the remainder of the year he’s usually on the road. “I travel for nine months,” he said. “I basically live out of my vehicle. I travel and fight fire.”
He explained once a fire becomes a federal matter, that’s when he and his company get involved. They were part of fighting the fire near Cambridge last year but were not part of fighting the Bovee fire at Halsey in October, 2022. “We were still in Calfornia,” he explained.
Harrold said he appreciates those with NBDC and APEX consultant Chuck Beck who helped him through the process. He also doesn’t forget those who were part of his journey to where he is today. In the photo below, his hat is different from the hard hats worn by the other two. “I wear it in memory of a friend,” he said and clarified that this friend is not the one lost in the vehicle accident in 1994.
He thanks and honors those in his past and he doesn’t forget where he got his start.
“I want to give a shout out to the Broken Bow Fire Department,” he said. “That’s how this all started.”
