Spring is coming!

BROKEN BOW - Meteorolog­ical spring begins March 20, the day of the spring equinox. For the mid-part of the U.S., the equinox occurs Monday, March 20, at 4:24 p.m. According to the Washington Post, nearly every region of Earth will experience close to 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on March 20.

Locally we’ve been experienci­ng high temps in the 40s. A cool down is forecast for Thursday with a 30 percent chance of snow, however, daytime highs will move back into the 40s for the remainder of the week.

Before spring arrives, however, Daylight Saving Time will begin. On Sunday, March 12, we will set our clocks forward one hour.

Monday, Feb. 27, Broken Bow, 45 high, 29 low. State high 61 at Falls City and state low of 21 at Gordon.

Sunday, Feb. 26, Broken Bow, 45 high, 36 low. State high 61 at Falls City, state low 27 at Valentine.

Saturday, Feb. 25, Broken Bow 46 high, 22 low. State high 61 at Hebron, state low 12 at Valentine.

Friday, Feb. 24, Broken Bow high 46, low 7. State high 51 at Hebron, state low -7 at Chadron.

Thursday, Feb. 23, Broken Bow high 14, low -3. State high 26 at Falls City and state low -14 at Gordon and Thedford.

Wednesday, Feb. 22, Broken Bow high 6, low -7. State high 25 at Falls City and state low -20 at Scottsbluf­f.

Tuesday, Feb. 21, Broken Bow high 30, low 3. State high 43 at Falls City and state low -11 at Gordon.

On Feb. 22, Broken Bow’s wind speed was 41 mph with gusts up to 54 mph recorded.
