Katie Ledecky's recordbreaking summer tour will touch down in Irvine today for the U.S. national swimming championships at the Woollett Aquatics Center.

The 25-year-old, Florida-based swimmer is entered in four events for the five-day meet, including the women's 100- and 800-meter freestyles, which could make for an intriguing double on Day 1.

Ledecky is the world record holder in the 800 but hasn't been known to dominate the 100.

She also is entered in the 200 freestyle on Wednesday and another of her so-called “off events,” the 400 individual medley, on Thursday.

“One more meet to cap the season this week,” Ledecky posted on Instagram on Monday.

The preliminary heats begin at 9 a.m. each day with the finals set for 5 p.m.

In June, Ledecky became the most decorated female swimmer in the history of the FINA World Championships, getting her 21st medal to surpass Natalie Coughlin. She set the record with a sizzling split on the U.S. women's 800 freestyle relay that took gold in Budapest, Hungary. Ledecky won her 22nd medal later in the meet.

Last week, the three-time Olympian captured her first two awards at the ESPYS in Los Angeles, “Best Athlete Women's Sports” and “Best Olympian Women's Sports.” Ledecky has won 10 Olympic medals (seven of them gold) since her debut at the 2012 Games in London.

Ledecky has traditionally raced well in Irvine. She set a world record in the 400 free in Irvine in 2014.

Other U.S. swimmers from the recent worlds have entered the U.S. nationals, including Michael Andrew, Claire Curzan, Bobby Finke, Shaine Casas, Leah Smith and Kieran Smith.

Tom Shields (Edison) and Abbey Weitzeil (Saugus) are among the local Olympians also entered.
