GAME REPORT

- — Jeff Fletcher

THE GAME: Although the Angels had most of their regulars in the starting lineup, they did not manage a run until scoring two with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to pull out a 2-2 tie with the Dodgers on Friday in Tempe, Ariz. The Angels are 4-2-1 this spring. PITCHING REPORT:

Left-hander Tyler Anderson pitched two scoreless innings, working around two walks, in his first start of the spring. Anderson, who was with the Dodgers last season, said the goal for the game was just to get used to pitching with the clock. “I didn't feel rushed but I definitely felt like I was paying a lot of attention to the clock,” Anderson said. “You want to get to the point, and I'm sure we'll get there like in the next couple of games, where it feels like it's second nature.” ... Right-hander Carlos Estevez walked four of the five batters he faced, striking out the other. Estevez, who is projected to be the Angels' closer, has walked six of the nine hitters he has faced this spring. Manager Phil Nevin said the Angels are working with Estévez on pitching up in the zone more, and those were the pitches he missed with. “We're working on some new stuff with him,” Nevin said. “I'm not worried about him at all.” ... Left-hander Kolton Ingram followed Estévez to the mound and also walked in a run . ... Right-handers Jimmy Herget, Jacob Webb and Jonathan Holder each pitched one scoreless inning. Left-hander Jhonathan Diaz pitched two scoreless innings, including a strikeout of Nevin's son, Kyle, who was just drafted last year. “That was neat for (Dodgers manager Dave Roberts) to put him in there,” Phil Nevin said.

HITTING REPORT: Taylor Ward singled and walked in three trips to the plate. Ward is 3 for 7 with a walk this spring . ... Mike Trout drew a walk, hit a flyout and grounded out. He narrowly beat the throw at first to avoid a double play . ... Gio Urshela was 2 for 3, improving to 4 for 12 this spring. ... Brandon Drury singled in three at-bats. He is 2 for 5with two walks this spring . ... Myles Emmerson poked a double down the left field line to drive in the game-tying runs in the ninth inning. Jo Adell then struck out with a chance to drive in the winner.

DEFENSE REPORT:

Urshela played his second game at shortstop this spring. Urshela remained in the game for seven innings defensively, which was longer than any of the other starters. He is leaving the team in a few days to play for Colombia in the World Baseball Classic . ... Righthander Luke Murphy made an errant pickoff throw . ... Center fielder Bryce Teodosio made a catch as he hit the fence, saving a run . ... Diaz was late covering the bag on a grounder to first, allowing the hitter to reach on a single.
