Peninsula's Callanan busy at Redondo

The rain slowed things down a bit on Friday's opening day of the Redondo Nike Track Festival, but things were moving on the second day Saturday.

Here is a look at some of the early results:

Peninsula's Aishling Callanan had a third-place finish in the 3,200 meters Friday. Saturday, she ran in two races. She finished first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:02.90 and she was fifth in the 800 (2:18.77).

Redondo's 800 duo of Adam Divinity (1:57.29) and Ryder Want (1:57.84) finished third and fifth, respective­ly.

Carson freshman Christina Gray posted a time of 12.06 to win the 100.

St. Bernard's Andrea Smith (12.21) was second and Gray's teammates Kaitlyn Williams (12.30) and Sahara Wray (12.34) were fourth and fifth, respective­ly.

Gray set a personal record of 11.98 in the 100 last week at the Covina Colt Classic.

In the boys 100, South Torrance's Anthony Flowers finished third in 10.67, which is the third-best time in the state this season.

St. Bernard's London Davis won the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.58, giving her the current top time in the state. Last week, she ran a 14.78.

Redondo's Lela Divinity was third at 15.06. Divinity's time beat her earlier time this season of 15.19.

Chadwick's Josh Thomas (4:20.95) and Redondo's Aaron Thomas (4:22.57) were third and sixth, respective­ly in the boys 1,600 race.

Carson's girls 4x100 relay team finished third (49.09) and Redondo's boys team was fourth.

Carson, Mira Costa and Redondo finished second, third and fourth, respective­ly in the girls Sprint Medley Relay. In the boys race, Redondo finished fourth.

Friday's events

The Redondo boys 4x800 relay team (Kyle Nguyen, Nike Broughton, Adam Divinity and Ryder Want) finished first with a time of 8:04.09.

Mira Costa's 4,000 Distance Medley relay team had strong finishes. The girls finished second (12:45.52) and the boys were first (10:33.55).

Redondo's Lyla Fedio and Mary Star's Claire Babbitt finished fourth and fifth, respective­ly in Friday's 3200 race.
