Top-ranked UConn impressive in rout of No. 4 Marquette

Donovan Clingan had 17 points and 10 rebounds to help top-ranked UConn rout No. 4 Marquette 81-53 Saturday and take control of the race for the Big East regular-season title.

Tristen Newton added 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for the Huskies (24-2, 14-1), who have won 14 straight games.

Kam Jones scored 15 points and Oso Ighodaro had 14 for the second-place Golden Eagles (19-6, 10-4), who came into the game with an eight-game winning streak.

The Huskies took their first 20-point lead at 51-30 after an offensive rebound by Newton, who fed Clingan for an emphatic dunk through the lane.

LSU 64, NO. 11 SOUTH CAROLINA 63 >> Jordan Wright had 14 points, including two free throws with five seconds left as the visiting Tigers (13-12, 5-7 SEC) erased a 16-point second half deficit to stun the Gamecocks.

South Carolina (21-5, 9-4) had a final chance, but Jacobi Wright's 3-pointer from the left corner hit off the rim and bounced away.

B.J. Mack had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead South Carolina.

IOWA 88, NO. 20 WISCONSIN 86 (OT) >> Tony Perkins' layup with 1.3 seconds left gave the host Hawkeyes an overtime win over the Badgers Perkins had 16 of his 18 points in the second half and overtime. Owen Freeman led Iowa (15-11, 7-8 Big Ten) with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Steven Crowl had 22 points to lead Wisconsin (17-9, 9-6).

NO. 22 KENTUCKY 70, NO. 13 AUBURN 59 >> Antonio Reeves scored 22 points and the visiting Wildcats (18-7, 8-4 SEC) led throughout to beat the cold-shooting Tigers, ending Auburn's 16-game home winning streak.

The Tigers (20-6, 9-4) lost their second-leading scorer, Jaylin Williams, to an apparent right knee injury midway through the second half.

Johni Broome and Chad Baker-Mazara scored 14 each for Auburn.
