Stanford survives with a victory in overtime

Brooke Demetre hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in overtime and Kiki Iriafen scored 11 of her career-high 41 points in OT, securing Portland 4 Regional second-seeded Stanford a place in the Sweet 16 with an 87-81 win over visiting seventhsee­ded Iowa State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night.

Addy Brown knocked down a 3 from the top of the arc with 31 seconds left in OT to put Iowa State (21-12) ahead, only for Demetre to answer from nearly the same spot moments later. She also hit two free throws with 11.7 seconds left to help seal it.

Iriafen converted a three-point play with 3:41 left in overtime after drawing the fifth foul on star Iowa State freshman Audi Crooks and also contribute­d 16 rebounds and three blocks.

Crooks had made 18 of 20 shots in her 40-point performanc­e to spark Friday's comeback win over Maryland.

On Sunday, Crooks missed her first three shots and fouled out with 10 points, making just 3 of 21 shots.

TEXAS 65, ALABAMA 54 >> Aaliyah Moore matched her career best with 21 points and had 10 rebounds to help the No. 1 seed Longhorns beat the visiting eighthseed­ed Crimson Tide (24-10).

Freshman Madison Booker also scored 21 for Texas, which will face the UtahGonzag­a winner in the Sweet 16.

Texas (32-4) has its most victories since finishing 32-3 in 1987-88.

Taylor Jones had four of the Longhorns' 11 blocked shots.

Portland 3 Regional

DUKE 75, OHIO STATE 63 >> Reigan Richardson scored 28 points and added seven rebounds as the visiting No. 7 seed Blue Devils rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit to beat the second-seeded Buckeyes and earn a spot in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2008.

Richardson hit a 3-pointer to put Duke up 59-57 with 5:21 left. That sparked a 13-2 run by the Blue Devils.

Duke (22-11) moves on to play the winner of Syracuse-UConn.

Cotie McMahon paced the Buckeyes with 27 points. Most of those were in the paint. Ohio State attempted just nine 3-pointers in the game and didn't make one until there were 12.2 seconds left in the game.

Ohio State's pressing defense caused problems for Duke early as the Buckeyes built a 16-point lead. But the Blue Devils came roaring back. A 12-2 run cut the Buckeyes lead to 36-32 at halftime.

The season ends for Ohio State, which advanced to the regional final last season. BAYLOR 75, VIRGINIA TECH 72 >> Jada Walker scored 26 of her career-high 28 points in the second half to lead the fifth-seeded Bears to a win over the No. 4 seed Hokies.

Visiting Baylor (26-7) won for the eighth time in the past nine games, Walker connected on 9 of 16 from the floor and 9 of 10 from the foul line.

Matilda Ekh paced Virginia Tech (258) with 19 points,

Albany 1 Regional

SOUTH CAROLINA 88, NORTH CAROLINA 41 >> Freshman MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 20 points including four 3-pointers, Kamilla Cardoso had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and the unbeaten host Gamecocks powered into their 10th straight Sweet 16 with a rout of the eighth-seeded Tar Heels.

Top overall seed South Carolina (34-0) needed everything it had to escape with single-digit wins the past two times it faced Nortyh Carolina (20-13). This time, the Gamecocks used a 15-0 first-quarter run to take control.

The Gamecocks will play either No. 4 seed Indiana or No. 5 seed Oklahoma on Friday in the regional semifinals. OREGON STATE 61, NEBRASKA 51 >> Talia von Oelhoffen had 19 points and eight assists to help the third-seeded Beavers advance to the Sweet 16 with a victory over the visiting No. 6 seed Cornhusker­s (23-13).

Oregon State (26-7) will face the winner of today's game between second-seeded Notre Dame and No. 7 Ole Miss.

Jaz Shelley had 10 points and seven assists for the Huskers, who have not advanced to the Sweet 16 since 2013.

Albany 2 Regional

LSU 83, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 56 >> Angel Reese had 20 points and 11 rebounds and the third-seeded Tigers responded to a ninepoint third-quarter deficit with a dominant finish to defeat the upstart No. 11 seed Blue Raiders.

Flau'Jae Johnson scored 21 for LSU (305), which ended Middle Tennessee's 20game winning streak.

MTSU (30-5) led 41-32 and looked primed to widen the gap when Reese tripped over a fallen teammate on an attempted layup and crashed hard to the court, sending the Blue Raiders on a 5-on-4 fast break the other way.

But Jalynn Gregory's open 3 bounced off the back rim to LSU guard Last-Tear Poa, who fired the ball down court, where Reese had just gotten to her feet and made an unconteste­d layup.

That play spawned a 10-0 run, fueled in part by Mikaylah Williams' pull-up jumper in transition and her left corner 3, which put the Tigers back in front, 42-41. COLORADO 63, KANSAS STATE 50 >> Tameiya Sadler scored all 10 of her points in the second half to lead a balanced scoring attack as the visiting No. 5 seed Buffaloes beat the fourth-seeded Wildcats to advance to the Sweet 16.

Colorado (24-9) will face the winner of today's game between No. 1 seed Iowa and No. 8 seed West Virginia.

The Buffaloes used an 11-2 run in the third quarter to grab its largest lead of the game at 48-41. Colorado outscored KState 19-7 in the third quarter to take a 52-42 lead into the fourth.

They say that time changes things. But actually, you have to change them yourself.

Otto, a fifth-year senior, has played 26 total games at USC. 66 college minutes. She takes the floor only in blowouts, and has scored a total of 23 collegiate points. Yet her teammates' eyes light up at any mention of her, and Gottlieb will take any opportunit­y possible to mention her. Otto is the oldest guard at USC, here even before the Gottlieb era, the most senior member of a program that's been completely reformed from the freshman-year days she saw no one in the stands.

This world is different here, now. Gottlieb planned this senior night on USC's home floor, knowing not just parents but an entire Los Angeles community would want to be present; fans pack the lower basin, staying long after a loss to Utah. And Otto,
