Iencourage everyone eligible to vote on the city of Boulder ballot issues to carefully read Ballot Issue 2B: No Eviction Without Representation. Careful examination of this issue as written creates many uncertainties as to the possible consequences of this issue, if passed.
Blake Fontenay’s editorial in the Oct. 4 issue of the Daily Camera highlighted many of the problems with this issue and I hope you will read what he has written. You may also want to read the report published in the Aug. 19 Daily Camera.
If 2B passes, landlords will be have to pay a yearly tax starting at $75 per year for every licensed rental unit they own. “Boulder Housing Partners which manages about 1,400 affordable units, would be exempt from paying this tax but would still benefit from the assistance (Aug. 19 Daily Camera).
Landlords will increase rents to tenants in order to pay for this tax, as well as any additional costs
