A Longmont woman accused of stabbing her roommate has accepted a plea deal in her case and was sentenced to probation.

Lisa Marie Hanson, 31, pleaded guilty on July 11 to third-degree assault and possession of a controlled substance, according to online records. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed the original charge of firstdegree assault causing serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon.

Hanson was sentenced to two years of probation as part of the plea agreement. Court records show she also went through the Restorative Justice program.

According to an affidavit, Longmont police were called on Aug. 19 to a residence in 1200 block of East Fourth Avenue for a report of a stabbing.

Police arrived and found a man lying in the driveway holding a towel to a stab wound on his stomach. He was transported to the hospital and recovered after surgery.

Police said Hanson, the stabbing victim and his girlfriend all lived at the same home. The girlfriend told police the three had gotten into an argument because Hanson was six months behind on rent, and Hanson started slamming her door and saying “mean things” when confronted about it.

Police said the man kicked down Hanson’s door, and Hanson started to punch him repeatedly in the chest. She then reached for a knife and stabbed the man in his stomach.

When officers arrived, Hanson was still holding the knife, but they were able to arrest her without further incident. While taking her into custody, police said they found more than 20 Xanax bars in her pockets.
