Edward Elmo Wilson

On July 16th, 2022, Edward Elmo Wilson passed away peacefully at his home in Erie, CO following complicati­ons from a stroke in August of 2021. His wife and family were by his side. Edward was well known as Elmo or Mo. He was 93 years young and known to be kind, caring, witty and sure to make you laugh in his presence. He was a tremendous Christian; actions, not words. Born on March 29th, 1929, in Owsley County Kentucky, the son of Quinton and Georgia (Bowman) Wilson. He is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth, son Brad, great grandson Lyndon, and his brothers Marvin, Billy, and sister Marianita. He is survived by the 'love of his life' his wife of 64 years, Ruth Wilson. His Children: Martin Edward Wilson (grandchild­ren Austin and Jesse (wife Aubrey and 3 great grandchild­ren Joel, Liam, and Lyla). Duane Sang Wilson (wife Kendra and 2 grandchild­ren Drake and Brooke). Daughter, Kelly Wilson (husband Louis Bustamante and granddaugh­ter Misty). David Thien Wilson (Wife Laura and 2 grandchild­ren Raelinh and Joseph). Ami Wilson (grandson Quinton). His Siblings Rita, Lawrence, and Joy. And many loving foster children. Elmo graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio. Attended the University of Cincinnati, OH. On January 2nd, 1951, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict and after basic training he was assigned to the Army Security Agency in Germany until December 1952 and assigned a 2-year Army reserve. He served a total of 5 years. Although he wore many hats, he retired after 25 years with IBM as a second level manager. Together with his wife they opened Rainbow Children Services where they fostered over 140 children, they were loving foster parents for over 30 years. In 2010 they built an orphanage in India and have helped over 120 children and widows, who have lived at the orphanage, gained education, and made their own families. Together Ruth and Elmo visited India 10 times. Elmo belonged to the American Legion and Brighton Church of Christ. He always said he wanted to "Leave the world in a better place then how he found it" Date and time of services: July 30th, 2022, at 10:00AM at the Brighton Church of Christ: 1929 E Egbert St, Brighton, CO 80601. A ceremony will also be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on August 16th at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers you can contribute to World Bible School of Tulare County.
