Democratic legislators promote ‘culture of death’

-

After giving testimony on 4 Bills going through the Colorado Assembly in the last month, I detected a troubling pattern with Democratic state legislators promoting a culture of death. This is visible in Democrats’ opposition to prolife Bills HB24-1106 (APR Information), and HB24-1224 (Child Personhood), and Democrats’ push to expand Assisted Suicide, despite numerous deficiencies in SB24-068.

But the most blatant example promoting a culture of death is

Democrats’ response to SB24083 (“Child Relinquishment”). Since the year 2000, there have been 41 illegally abandoned newborns, and 34 infantabandonment deaths in Colorado (tinyurl.com/5daj7kr5, time 10:18:10). This legislation was written hoping to eliminate such deaths by allowing mothers to choose to relinquish anonymously by placing their newborns at fire stations or hospitals in basinets equipped with alarms — instead of directly handing them to hospital staff or firefighters as required by the current safe-haven law. Mothers could relinquish their babies without the stigma of facing firemen or hospital staff. The Bill was defeated over concerns that the baby could experience permanent harm from loss of human contact (tinyurl.com/29frpd88, time 11:42:30 to 11:42:45), even though the average time between placing the baby in the device and a human picking up the baby is 90-seconds (tinyurl.com/5daj7kr5, 10:58:32). Perhaps Democrats don’t realize mothers place their newborns in bassinets for hours to sleep safely? Testimony claimed “abortion-care” is a better option than anonymous relinquishment (tinyurl. com/5daj7kr5, time 10:33:2540) — culture of death!
