Celebrate Boulder’s volunteers this week

-

National Volunteer Week is April 21-27. It is a week to recognize the impactful contributions of volunteers in our community and honor their efforts.

Many of our volunteers at TRU Community Care specialize in supporting families who are in our palliative or hospice programs. These volunteers provide companionship, massage therapy, notary services, veteran pinnings, yardwork, pet therapy and more.

Additionally, our volunteers also support TRU’S Grief Services program (which is available to the entire community even if your loved one wasn’t in our hospice program). These specialized volunteers make outreach calls, maintain a lending library and run support groups. Our Grief Services volunteers also support the greater community in times of need — for example, our volunteers, partnering with Heartlight, provided grief support groups for employees and community members impacted by the King Soopers mass shooting. Our volunteers also provided a Candlelight ceremony to honor the ten victims who died.

TRU Community Care has many volunteers who support our Thrift Shop by helping with donation intake, merchandizing, testing electronics and maintaining our online Etsy, Amazon and ebay shops. Our Thrift Shop volunteers also support our greater community in times of need, for example, by offering personal shopping services to those impacted by the Marshall Fire.

Finally, TRU also has many volunteers supporting the Conversation Project of Boulder County. These volunteers provide advance care planning education and tools to individuals or community groups — all free of charge.

In 2023, our 360+ volunteers logged over 30,000 hours!

Thank you, wonderful volunteers, for your dedication and commitment. You give your time, skills, empathy and compassion to help make our community a stronger, more connected place. You truly make a difference!
