A Davis man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and indecent exposure by Woodland police after he first tried to enter an apartment.

Police reported late Wednesday the arrest took place around 9:40 a.m., Tuesday. Arrested was Jose Indalopez, 36, who was found behind La Superior market on Court Street masturbating.

He was identified as the same person who tried to enter an apartment on Elliot Street around 6 a.m. the same day. Police credited area residents with providing them a description of Indalopez, which brought about his arrest.

According police, officers were first dispatched to an apartment after receiving a 911 call reporting an unidentified man had entered the home.

The apartment resident told police he was awakened by the sound of someone coming into his home and confronted the individual. However, the person “tried to play it off by saying he was simply ‘looking for his wife.'”

Police reported the suspect then fled the apartment and officers were unable to find him when they arrived.

However, three hours later officers were again dispatched to the same apartment complex for a report of a man on the property who “was only covered from the waist up pleasuring himself.”

When officers arrived the suspect was gone once again but a witness was able to give a description and tell the officers which way the suspect had traveled.

Thanks to that description, Indalopez was found behind La Superior only a few minutes later.

Indalopez was “positively identified” as being the same suspect from both incidents. He was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail.
