Daily Democrat sensationalized shooting

-

An unfortunate situation, an understatement, occurred in West Sacramento recently. Bob Coleman, a former police department employee, died after a confrontation with West Sacramento Police Officers. His family, the police officers and the community feel the effects.

The media is frequently accused of sensationalizing things and stirring the proverbial pot, usually with headlines. In my opinion, the Democrat achieved this distinction with the headlines leading to the story on the West Sacramento incident. Let me give you a few examples when compared to other stories that have been in the paper. These are headlines before you get to the story.

Sept. 17, Daily Democrat: Elderly Black man shot, killed, by police was former employee. On that same date the paper reported two residents arrested following police pursuit. The headline did not indicate age or race.

Sept. 18, Daily Democrat: Davis man booked for burglary and indecent exposure. The headline did not indicate age or race.

Sept. 18, Daily Democrat: Woman killed after being struck by train in Dixon. The headline did not indicate age or race.

Sept. 18, Daily Democrat: Family of West Sacramento man killed on Fairfield freeway seeks answers. The headline did not indicate age or race.

Sept. 18: Daily Democrat: Yolo deputies arrest Sacramento man for attempted murder. Again, no age or race.

Sept. 22: Daily Democrat: Video of Black man shot to death by West Sac Police released. Under this headline and before you get to the story there is a line indicating Mr. Coleman’s age.

I know your job is to report the facts and of course you should. But given the current climate of things nationwide there is no mistaking why The Democrat elected to headline the West Sacramento stories with age and race when compared to the other ones. The next time a law enforcement officer is injured or worse, will The Democrat headline the story indicating the suspects age and race? I feel confident in stating you won’t. And you shouldn’t because it’s not necessary.

Pray for greater compassion on high court

With the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the grueling Supreme Court nomination process to come, and the impending presidential election on top of that, we pray that our nation can find ways to increase compassion, justice, and morality while limiting anger, fear, and hatred. Evil does exist in this world, and we have come to know it far better than we’d ever wish on anyone. But that life experience has only clarified that tens of millions of people who politically disagree should not loathe each other as mortal enemies.

May God bless America through the difficult trials ahead.

Trump would rather lie to than lead the public

At the start of WWII, Churchill warned his people of the destruction and deprivations they would likely face. They were to have gas masks on hand, participate in drills and do all they could to prepare for invasion. He trusted the British people to be strong, accept sacrifices and face the challenge together.

Trump, on the other hand, has lied to the American public about the severity of COVID and how it’s transmitted. How can we have faith in a president who has no faith in us — who would rather lie than lead.

Homelessness is big business for state

This is hot off the skillet. While California is getting ravaged by wildfire due to foolish land management, Newsom has great news for it’s cities — momoney! I’ll get to that in a minute, back to wildfires. Did you know that California, way before European settlements here, was ravaged yearly by wildfires? You didn’t know that? Did you miss world history in lieu of Sex Ed at Chico State? Manmade global warming is a hoax and a huge money maker for progressive elites getting grants and, Al Gore, the biggest hoaxter of all time.

Homelessness is now California’s biggest problem, says everyone, including Newsom. While most other states have large losses, California has a full-blown homeless bloom. We now have a Homeless Czar! Remember Obama’s Czars? I think Czars belong in Russia, not America. Newsom is giving free handouts for more homeless to move here and granting millions to cities to cater to them, Chico included, to make sure the homeless disease spreads. (Cities) are drooling over the free money while we have dozens of homeless beds unoccupied.

Our sudden increase in murder and violent crimes is proportionately related to homelessness, free drugs, needles and homeless running wild with no responsibility to anyone or thing. Where does all this money come from?

You, and your constantly raised taxes, the highest in the nation.

Vote Republican this time.
