HOST

The Homeless Outreach Street Team reported that for Dec. 4 through Dec. 11, they assisted with the Fill the Trunk campaign to get presents for families in need. The long term homeless people who have accepted services and have been placed in housing require continued contact and encouragement to stay in housing and treatment. HOST members have been continuously following up with three of these subjects. One of these subjects had a relapse and extensive time was spent making sure that he was connected to services to keep him off the street. HOST has begun engagement with a new subject that was previously not open to services. Staff at the Municipal Service Center has been working with HOST for a cleanup along Kentucky Avenue. The ditch is a difficult area to get into and requires planning. Walmart has finished its cleanup. Continued encouragement is necessary, for them to stay on top of their property so it does not get out of control again. There were 30 contacts during the week. Services were offered to nine subjects and accepted by three. There were seven camps located, of which six were cleaned up. HOST made two arrests.
