Starbucks robbery suspect arrested
A man who allegedly robbed Starbucks on Pioneer Avenue in Woodland early Tuesday had little time to spend the money he stole.
Woodland police arrested a suspect less than an hour and only a short distance away from the robbery. No one was harmed in the robbery, in which the man apparently used what was later identified as a fake or “simulated” silver handgun.
Arrested was 40- yearold, Woodland resident, Robert Hamilton Palmatier, who was taken to the Yolo County Jail.
The robbery was reported to Yolo County dispatchers at the 451 Pioneer Ave. business around 7: 15 a. m. and police were en route within minutes.
The suspect was described as being a white male in his 30s, standing between 5- feet, 10 inches and 5- feet, 11 inches tall, weighing around 200 pounds with brown eyes and light skin. The man was reported to be wearing a black or blue “puffy” jacket with a brown
lining and black beanie and black mask.
Starbucks staff reported the man showed a “silver,” semi- automatic handgun before he ran off with the money.
As it turned out, police learned that a clerk at the nearby Quik Stop Market, 1400 E. Main St., had also been threatened with a man showing a silver handgun who tried to take some beer around 6: 55 a. m. The man left when a customer walked into the store.
Police checked out businesses along East Street before coming across a person matching the description of the Starbucks robber farther west around 8 a. m. at Black Bear Diner. A witness from Starbucks apparently identified the suspect around 8: 10 a. m. and the man was taken into custody.
No information was available on how much money was taken.
The investigation is continuing.
