Daren Allen Lance, age 58, passed away suddenly on December 11, 2020 in the privacy of his own home. He was born on June 13, 1962 in Neodesha, KS to Leslie L. Lance and Ramona Lance. Daren graduated from Joel E. Ferris and East Valley High School, Spokane Valley, WA, in 1980. He moved to Woodland shortly thereafter, where he happily resided for the rest of his life. Daren was a devoted husband to Brenda ( Taylor), after they were married in 1983. Daren was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle who was deeply devoted to his children, daughter, Melissa Wood ( husband, Mike; children, Brayden and Paislee), daughter, Shelby Marler ( husband, Brian; children, Jayce and Riley); and son, Brody Lance ( wife, Courtney; children Kaydence and Brooklyn). He had an incredible work ethic that garnered him much admiration and gratitude for his mechanical skills, which assured him a very successful career. Daren’s desire to help people carried into his job, where he developed friendships with numerous customers, as well as becoming an outstanding mentor to many. For 22 years, Daren was a mechanical foreman at West Coast Frame and Collision in West Sacramento, working on heavy vehicles such as buses, semi- trucks/ trailers, motorhomes, and fire trucks. Daren was proud of his ability to make something wrecked look and operate like new. Daren never saw a person he wouldn’t help with his skills, and was always helping out extended family and friends with car problems, as well as with many home projects. He especially loved restoring old cars like his 1965 Mustang, his pride and joy, which he received from his father on his sixteenth birthday. He loved going on many memorable camping trips with all of his family, introducing each grandchild to the camping experience as babies. His other passion was volunteering in the ambassador program at the Sonoma Raceway for the past 20 years. Daren will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona, in Spokane, WA. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Brenda; his children, Melissa, Shelby and Brody; his sister, Leslie Louise Lance; his brothers, Curtis Edward Lance and Tucker H. Lance; his father, Leslie Lee Lance and stepmother Lisa Lance; as well as his six grandchildren and multiple nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Kansas, Idaho, Alabama, Washington and California. A celebration of life will be held in his memory at a future date.
