UC Davis opens up an ‘executive leadership program’

- Jim Smith

This is the year to transform as a leader, inspire your teams and achieve success. Apply now for the 2021 UC Davis Executive Leadership Program — a transformational experience that will give people a deeper understanding of an individual’s strengths and how to grow as a business or community leader.

The 12-week, remote program is built on four pillars: top-notch leadership curriculum, 360-degree feedback, executive coaching and leadership support, and an organizational transformation plan. The program is designed to complement the busy schedule of today’s leaders and allow you to integrate what you are learning immediately, while also providing opportunities for networking.

Featuring a revamped curriculum to help adapt in the face of change and lead more effectively, this year’s program includes new topics such as remote leadership, inclusive leadership and mindfulness-based leadership. A new line up of high-profile speakers and presenters have also been added, including UC Davis Chancellor Gary May, Sutter Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Steven Lockhart and Revolution Foods Founder Kirsten Saenz Tobey.

“For more than 30 years, UC Davis has offered its signature Executive Leadership Program to train senior leaders throughout the nation with the skills needed to transform organizations,” said May. “I will be kicking off the first session by sharing my own story of leadership and transformation.”

The UC Davis Executive Leadership Program begins March 11. Classes will take place via Zoom on Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For more information, sign up for an online information session on either Jan. 22 or Feb. 11. Schedule an appointment with enrollment coach, Kristy Craig. In a 30-minute appointment, people will get answers to questions and ensure the program is the right fit for career goals. For more information or to apply, visit cpe.ucdavis. edu/executive.

Collision Pros, a leading mid-market provider of collision repair services in Northern California, has acquired A-1 Body Shop in Davis. A-1 will become Collision Pros’ 6th repair facility.

“We are proud to continue the business founded and run by the Cross family since 1967,” said Brian von Tress, Collision Pros founder and president. “A-1 was a natural fit for Collision Pros because the emphasis Brian and Deirdre Cross put on customer experience matches our own. We plan to enhance A-1 with our technology and training, taking what was already a great brand and making it even better.”

Von Tress and his team are also in the process of making all Collision Pros repair facilities Tesla certified, a distinction given to less than 1% of repair facilities worldwide.

According to von Tress, “We have been working with Tesla for years in other locations and believe that the Davis market can really use a Tesla repair specialist.”

A-1 in Davis will continue to be managed by Cameron Young.

West Sacramento-based Raley’s Food For Families Annual Holiday Drive raised over $3 million throughout the 2020 holiday season, the largest amount ever donated in the organization’s 35 years of hosting the event. The donations, which came from customers in-store and online between Nov. 2 and Dec. 31, will provide more than three million meals for those suffering from food insecurity in northern California and Nevada.

“The generosity we have seen this past year within the communities we serve is incredible,” said Becca Whitman, executive director of Raley’s Food For Families reported. “It is no secret that 2020 was an especially difficult year, so we cannot thank our customers enough for their outpouring of support to help their neighbors in need during even the toughest of times. They are the ones who truly deserve the recognition.”

Raley’s Food For Families works every day to alleviate hunger locally by partnering with 12 regional food banks across the company’s footprint in northern California and Nevada. This year’s Annual Holiday Drive was important because these partners, which typically serve 1.4 million food insecure individuals each month, saw an increase of an average of 95% in those using their services in 2020.

Although this year’s Annual Holiday Drive has ended, Raley’s accepts donations year-round at check stand pin pads at all store locations and online to support Food For Families. Donations stay local to aid the communities in which they were made, and Raley’s covers all administrative costs for Food For Families, ensuring one hundred percent of donations benefit food bank partners and those in need.
