Longtime Woodland resident Nathan David Bohl passed away from a stroke on February 10, 2021, at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael, surrounded by family.

Nathan was born in Jamestown, ND on December 2, 1950, the son of Benjamin and Dorothy (Kittrell) Bohl.

When he was 14 years old, Nathan and his family moved to Woodland where he attended local schools.

Upon graduating from high school, Nathan joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a Communicat­ions Center Specialist SP5 with the 459th Signal Battalion at Nha Trang, Republic of Vietnam from August 1970 to June 1971. He was award- ed the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, 2 Oversea Bars, Army Commendati­on Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Sharpshoot­er Badge w/M-16 rifle.

After his brave and loyal service to his country, Nathan attended California State University, Sacramento, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art.

Upon graduating from college, Nathan worked for the Daily Democrat newspaper’s advertisin­g department. He was later employed at Printer’s Ink in Woodland. In July 1999, Nathan began a new career at the U.S. Department of Agricultur­e’s Farm Service Agency in Woodland, assist- ing area farmers with federal agricultur­al programs until he retired in July 2014.

Nathan was a gifted artist and painted numerous paint- ings, some of which he entered and received awards for at the Yolo County Fair. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, playing the guitar, and cooking for family and friends.

Nathan is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Rutger Bohl; son, Andrew Wyeth Bohl and grandson, Gage Ethan Bohl of Tri-cities (Richland/Kennewick/Pasco), WA; daughter, Audrey Bohl of Woodland; stepdaught­er, Kristy (Ennis) Herbert (Aaron) of Rupert, ID; stepson, Joseph Ennis of Burley, ID; brothers, Coleman Bohl (Elizabeth) of Woodland and Wayne Tittle of Sacramento; sister, Brenda Tittle Strickland (Radford) of Cusseta, AL; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Nathan will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
