Thirsty Goat waiting to reopen

- Jim Smith Contact reporter Jim Smith at 530-406-6230.

Here’s some real good news as far as I’m concerned. I was wrong in reporting on Feb. 12 that the Thirsty Goat on Main Street was closed.

I’m sorry about being in error, but I’m delighted that the Goat is still in operation. Ashley Delgado, who is the general manager of the bar sent me a message stating in part “At this time we are still under the mandate put forward by the state of California about COVID-19 policies for reopening. We unfortunately do not fall under guidelines of reopening at this current time. We do look forward to opening again in what we hope is the near future.

“Unfortunately during our closure due to COVID-19 someone vandalized our sign on Main Street,” Delgado noted because I had based part of my incorrect assessment on the vandalism of the sign.

“At this time we don’t feel it’s appropriate to spend funds on a replacement sign when we are not open,” Delgado continued. “Again, we look forward to reopening and serving the community of Woodland. We miss all of our guests and hope they are doing well.”

Again, my apologies to Delgado and the others who hang out at the Goat. I, personally, look forward to stopping by every now and then in the future to play pool and listen to the music while drinking a few beers.

This item isn’t really a “true business” story except that some of the individuals who have been named to the Yolo County Democratic Party new 2021-2022 executive board are in local businesses.

The new executive officers for the party include Chairwoman Linda Deos, Vice Chairwoman Norma Alcala, Executive Director Dave Griffin; Controller Don Stauffer, Parliamentarian Marty West, and Secretary Saira Delgado.

“I look forward to working with all Democrats in Yolo County to grow our party, support our local elected Democrats, and take on the tough challenges facing our communities during the pandemic,” stated Deos. “We welcome the participation of Democrats across the county, and we will be seeking to uplift our communities who have been most impacted by the destruction of the past four years.”

Yolobus has changed its mind and is adding trips to alleviate Route 215 crowding on peak trips to and from Cache Creek Casino Resort.

This last week, Yolobus reported it is now offering the trips seven days a week, centered around the 7 a.m., and 3 and 11 p.m. shifts of Cache Creek staff.

In the Cache Creek Casino Resort-bound Direction: The driver of the first bus (departure times starting at 5:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m., and 9:45 p.m., from the County Fair Mall in Woodland) will limit boardings in the 45foot buses to 26. Once 26 passengers are on board, the driver will continue stopping at Yolobus bus stops along the way to inform anyone remaining that a second bus will be picking them up shortly. The second bus (leaving the Mall in Woodland at 5:55 a.m., 1:55, and 9:55 p.m.) will pick up the remaining waiting passengers.

“As we gain experience, and better understand ridership levels, we may run a 40-foot bus on trips that normally carry no more than 15 passengers,” according to a statement by Yolobus. “Lastly, please always wear a face mask at bus stops and on the bus. Note that the CDC now recommends wearing two face masks while out in public.”
