League of Women Voters to hold the 26th annual spring fundraiser
The League of Women Voters is excited to announce their first 2021 event “A League Spring Series…DEMOCRACY WORKing…in Woodland.”
The event will be an informative three part series providing the community an opportunity to meet Woodland’s new members of the Board of Supervisors, City Council, and the school board. Each month’s event in March, April, and May will include a delivered Box Lunch prepared fresh by a different local vendor, as well as a piece of the league’s traditional, “famous and fantastic,” carrot cake by Mary Ann. The slice of cake surprise will accompany each lunch.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the series will be a virtual event and the League fundraiser for the year as the traditional bean soup luncheon could not be held. The accommodation will allow the League to continue its mission of providing information to encourage informed and active participation in our community.
Each month will be a virtual presentation carried out live for ticket holders. The recorded version will be available on the Leagues’ website and Facebook page and televised on local cable Channel 21.
Community members can purchase a serious or individual event ticket and become more informed about the interests and concerns of all the new members of the Boards and Councils here in Woodland and Yolo County. Sponsor’s names, businesses, or organizations will be listed in the series program and on the box lunch bags.
Community members are encouraged to purchase individual or series tickets as a gift, which would make an excellent introduction to the League’s community involvement.
A delightful and delicious “Yolo County Bounty” door prize, a basket overflowing with many local treats, will be awarded to one lucky ticket holder.
Tickets are available through the League website at mylo.lwv.org/california/woodland or by request via email at woodlandleaguenews@gmail. com or by calling 530-3833143.
