Events scheduled to discuss COVID-19

Board of Supervisor­s will hold Community Summit, Yolo Community Foundation hosting five-week series

As Yolo County inches in on one year of shutdowns pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple events have been scheduled to address the lasting impacts of the year.

The County Board of Supervisor­s will meet for a COVID-19 Community Summit on March 2. The event is scheduled to go from 9 a.m. to slightly past 2 p.m., and will feature opening remarks from Public Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson and include panels on topics related to: healthcare, businesses, local government, schools and communitie­s.

There will be four panels, focusing on: healthcare, businesses, local government and schools, and communitie­s.

“COVID-19 has presented many challenges and hardships for families, businesses, and community organizati­ons across Yolo County,” stated Chair of the Yolo County Board of Supervisor­s, Jim Provenza. “This summit represents an opportunit­y to bring many voices into a community dialogue that will allow for people to process their experience with the global pandemic while also seeing a path forward with education, outreach, and vaccine distributi­on.”

The meeting is open for the public to attend, and will take place over Zoom due to the pandemic. Members can either watch the meeting at https://yolocounty.zoom.us/j/112072974, or call in at (408) 638-0968.

The Yolo Community Foundation is also planning events to discuss the pandemics lasting impacts on the county. They are offering a five-week series of discussion regarding different community needs.

The series kicked off Thursday with a discussion on COVID-19’s impacts on children and families. The next four meetings will all be held at 11 a.m. over Zoom, and are as follows:

▪ March 4: Food Insecurity

▪ March 11: Mental Health

▪ March 18: Housing Insecurity

▪ March 25: What’s next: a look at recovery
