Shots Fired: An officer who viewed a vehicle sideshow at 11:20p.m. on Feb. 19, at Main and Second streets, reported that dozens of vehicles were involved. The officer heard shots fired near the location but couldn’t find any shell casings or a crime scene.

Vehicle Pursuit: Officers en route to a vehicle sideshow in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue at 11:21 p.m., Feb. 19, observed a vehicle speeding in front of the Police Department, which is located at 1000Lincol­n Ave. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to yield. The pursuit lasted two minutes on southbound on East Street. The pursuit was terminated due to unsafe speeds and driving by the suspect vehicle.

Vandalism: Community members called Yolo dispatch around 9:50 p.m. on Feb. 22 because they saw a man breaking windows out of businesses in the 600 block of Cottonwood St. Officers were able to respond quickly and located John Danford, a 40-year-old Woodland resident. Those community members were able to identify Danford as the person who was breaking windows. There were six businesses in the shopping center whose windows were broken or had other damage. The estimated damages exceeded $5,000. When Danford was contacted, he had a fixed blade knife in his jacket pocket. Danford was arrested for felony vandalism and carrying a concealed dirk/dagger.

Battery on an Officer: Jefferson Read, a 49-year-old Sacramento resident, had been harassing customers at the Dollar Store at 16W. Court St., and numerous other businesses in the area on Feb. 23 around 1:40 p.m. An officer attempted to make contact with Read and he threw a bucket at the officer causing a slight injury. Read then refused to comply with the officer’s orders to stop. He was eventually detained, handcuffed and arrested. Read was booked at Yolo County Jail for resisting arrest and battery on an officer.

Resisting and Battery on an Officer: At 4:14 p.m. on Feb. 23, at 1901 E. Beamer St., officers responded to the report of a heavily intoxicate­d subject. Karen Carlos Guzman, a 29-year-old Woodland resident, was taken into custody. When placed in the patrol vehicle she kicked the windows and hit her head. When removed from the vehicle, Guzman kicked at officers and bit an officer who was applying the WRAP restrainin­g device. She was booked at Yolo County Jail. No one was injured during the incident.

HOST

The Homeless Outreach Street Team worked through moving clients from Project Roomkey back into the shelter. Two members of our HOST team were out sick this week. HOST made 38 contacts, offered service to 12 of them of which two accepted services. There were 12 camps located and three camps cleaned up. There were 18 downtown patrols.
