Raymond Lee Stover, of Woodland, CA passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 in his home after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was 75 years old. Ray was born on March 3, 1945 in Havelock, IA to Sherman (Ted) and Lucille (Toots) Stover. He graduated from Havelock-Plover High School in 1963. Ray enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 16, 1963 and served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. He was a Sergeant and was discharged in 1969. He was united in marriage to D. Diane (Sernett) Spitzley on January 6, 1968. From this union there were two children, Timothy and Shelly. They divorced in 1973. Ray married Shirley (Arnseth) Stover on March 21, 1981. From this union there were two children, Sarah and Daniel. Ray spent most of his career in auto and truck sales, first in Duluth, MN then Moorhead, MN. In 1981 he moved to Woodland, CA where he continued his work in heavy duty truck sales. At the time of his death he was employed by Riverview Internatio­nal Trucks in West Sacramento. Ray was a lover of baseball, so you could always find him either watching his son’s games or umpiring at any of the local Woodland baseball fields. He loved NASCAR, loved to watch his kids and grandkids swimming in his pool at home, and was known by all his neighbors for being a huge help with anything yard or car related. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Toots Stover; siblings, Gay Stover, Jack Stover, Donald Stover, Marian Shimon; and brother-in-law, Howard Shimon. He is survived by his brother, Robert Stover, and his wife Carol of Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law, Mary Stover of Kearney, NE, Janice Stover of Pocahontas, IA, and Ruth Stover of Des Moines, IA; his children, Timothy Spitzley of Brainerd, MN, Shelly Reinke of Melrose, MN, Sarah Fischer of Olympia, WA, and Daniel Stover of Woodland, CA along with their spouses, Cassandra Spitzley, James Reinke, J.D. Fischer, and Lindsay Stover; grandchild­ren, Hannah and Noah Spitzley, Caitlyn and Mitchell Trane, and Charlotte and Brooklyn Stover; great-grandchild­ren, and many nieces and nephews. We will miss him so much. No services will be held at this time. There will be a Veteran’s burial at Van Meter Cemetery in Van Meter, IA this spring.
