Yolo County supervisors are expected to name a portion of road between County Road 22, County Road 118 and the Sacramento Weir to honor Kent Lang.

The resolution, which states that Lang was killed by a “reckless driver,” will be brought to the board Tuesday by Yolo County Supervisor Gary Sandy, who represents the county’s 3rd

District.

Lang, 75, died due to a collision on Old River Road in West Sacramento on Sept. 9 — one day before he would have turned 76. The other driver, identified as Francisco Clyde Tidwell Lopez, was also killed in the accident. Lang’s wife, Karen, was injured in the crash.

Lang operated his own farm, Kent Lang Farming, in West Sacramento where he farmed walnuts and pecans.

According to the resolution, Lang was a graduate of Woodland High School, and he studied agriculture at Chico State University. In his senior year of college, Lang was drafted to go to Vietnam. He received a bronze star for “valor in running ammo back and forth across the line of fire to support his men.”

Lang also served on multiple boards in Yolo County, including: Yolo County Farm Bureau, Yolo County YMCA, Reclamation District 1600, Reclamation District 537, Yolo County Planning Commission, Ag Heidrick Center and special committees for flood control.

“Kent Lang was always known to be genuine and carried an ability to get people to put down the various agendas and work together for the benefit of Yolo County,” the resolution stated.
