Woodland Community College seeks to fill committee vacancies

- By Carlos Guerrero cguerrero@dailydemocrat.com

Times are exciting at Woodland Community College for a multitude of reasons.

While more and more students are returning to campus for face-to-face instruction, the new Performing and Culinary Arts building is scheduled to break ground in March 2022, all while the college is planning to launch an athletics program for fall 2022, starting with a women’s and men’s college soccer team, according to Carid Servin, the executive assistant to the WCC President.

The WCC Fund Committee and Yuba Community College District Foundation are seeking alumni and community members who want to get involved with the college as volunteers.

The WCC Fund Committee and YCCD Foundation are comprised of both community volunteers and members of the college and district staff, who work together to provide resources for critical campus programs such as the food pantry, student emergency fund, academic programs, as well as scholarships that support students in our district.

Volunteer opportunities available include helping with fundraising efforts to support student scholarships and resources, organizing events, such as the annual Founders Day Dinner, representing WCC on the YCCD Foundation Board of Directors, and volunteers to help with the campus food pantry, as well as other events and activities to support campus life and community events at the college.

If you are interested in joining these committees, please contact Carid Servin at the college president’s office at 530-661-5711 or via email at cservin@yccd.edu.

Those interested in volunteering will be asked to provide a short biography or resume to highlight their areas of interest or expertise.
