Rico’s Pizza replaced, Comic-Con returns

Rico’s Pizza — located at 171 W. Main St. in Woodland — has been replaced by Mountain Mike’s Pizza.

A previous Daily Democrat article reported that Rico’s closed its doors in January 2020 due to unforeseen circumstan­ces.

The property went up for sale offered for $900,000 in February and has now been purchased by large pizza company Mountain Mike’s.

There will be a Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lucy’s Cafe & Farm Pantry in downtown Esparto.

The festival will feature games, food and prizes including a chili cook-off and kids activities in an effort to support local businesses, according to the event’s Facebook page.

The Esparto Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event and is still accepting vendors through an online applicatio­n.

Woodland’s Toy-Anime-Comic Con will return and be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Eagles Hall — located at 37650 CA-16 — in Woodland.

The event will be hosted by Ohana Comic-Con and admission is $8 or $7 if you have an ad or flyer. Kids 10 and under enter for free. Parking is available onsite and is free.

Cameras are allowed and there will be a costume contest at 2:30 p.m. Anyone interested in participat­ing in the contest can sign up at the admission table.

The convention was last in Woodland in late July and offered a large variety of toys, costumes, comics and more to hundreds of attendees.

Baker Family Wines is holding a second-anniversar­y party from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in West Sacramento.

The business — located at 2568 Industrial Blvd. in West Sacramento — will have wine specials, barrel tastings, a wine raffle and new merchandis­e, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Handmade wood-fired pizza by Chavious Pizza and tacos, quesadilla­s and loaded tots from Poco D Todo will be available for purchase and live music by Noize will start at 1:30 p.m.

The Davis Farmers Market will extend its hours Wednesday during its “Pre-Thanksgivi­ng Market” and will be open from noon to 6 p.m. at Central Park — located at 301 C St. — in Davis.

The market will have a bounty of seasonal produce, table decor, flowers, olive oil, honey and wine, according to the market’s website.

Several bakeries will have fresh-baked items such as pumpkin, apple, pecan and berry pies, pumpkin cheesecake, breads, stuffing mix and cookies.

The farmers market is typically open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. to 6 on Wednesdays.

Other special holiday hours for the market are Fridays Dec. 24 and 31 from 8 a.m. to noon and will be closed during Christmas.

The Downtown Woodland Christmas Boutique will be holding its grand re-opening in its new location at 711 Main Street in the old Daily Democrat building.

The boutique will open on Black Friday and features holiday gifts, decor and goodies from over 15 vendors and is only open for a limited time from Nov. 26 to Dec. 24.

The boutique will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
