Thanksgiving meals available from local restaurants

Several Woodland restaurants are offering takehome Thanksgiving dinners this year for anyone who is looking to relax while still having a restaurant-quality meal this holiday.

Kitchen 428 — located at 428 1st St. in Woodland — is one of these restaurants.

“Last year was actually our first year doing takehome Thanksgiving dinners and it was kind of born out of the necessity from the pandemic,” owner Christy Hayes said.

Hayes noted that the dinner was so popular that they ended up doing Christmas and New Year’s Eve takehome dinners as well.

“We decided to again this year do another Thanksgiving takeout because many people are still doing takeout meals from restaurants and trying to keep Thanksgiving small and a bit more intimate due to the pandemic,” she stressed. “We figured maybe this is kind of starting a new tradition for us.”

The menu is very similar to last year’s, according to Hayes. The restaurant will be offering turkey and prime rib dinners for two and four and each meal will include garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green bean almandine, glazed carrots, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie.

Pickup will be between noon and 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.

“All our meals do have to be pre-ordered and prepaid for and our deadline to preorder is Monday,” Hayes added. “I hope everyone enjoys their meals and we really appreciate and are thankful for the continued support as we continue to navigate this ever-changing world of the pandemic.”

Hayes said she looks forward to continuing doing these dinners in future years.

Rudy Peniche — coowner of Las Brasas and Main Street Lounge — said both of his restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving for anyone who prefers dining out for the holiday and will also be offering takehome dinners.

“We normally open on Thanksgiving and close on Friday so that people have options in town,” he emphasized.

Orders can be placed by calling the restaurants and the deadline for orders for both will be Wednesday one day before Thanksgiving, according to Peniche.

Call Las Brasas — located at 537B Main St. — at 530665-6806 if interested in a Mexican-style meal or call Main Street Lounge — located at 524 Main St #101 — at 530-402-1223 for a more traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Las Brasas and Burger Saloon will also be collaborating to host a Pre-Thanksgiving Throwback event from 8 p.m. to midnight Wednesday at Burger Saloon — located at 601 Main St. — with music from the 1990s and will be featuring DJ Shotgun Shima.

“The kitchen is going to be open until 9 p.m. and then from 9 p.m. to midnight we’re going to have tacos from Las Brasas at the patio,” he explained. “It’s not the first time we collaborate with Burger Saloon and people really love it when we do and have a great time.”

Velocity Island Park’s restaurant — Edgewater Eatery — is also offering takehome Thanksgiving dinners that give customers the options of tender smoked turkey breast or smoked brisket confit.

The turkey breast — which will be brined, seasoned and smoked — will cost $70 for two breasts. The brisket — which will be smoked low and slow and then placed in a garlic oil bath and then smoked — will cost $130 for six pounds.

Available sides include eight pounds of family-style creamy mac and cheese for $60, half a pan of classic stuffing for $35 and half a pan of fried garlic green bean casserole for $45.
